Philosophy:
All NMDE diving activities and members have adopted a strict “Team” approach to all diving activities. The focus is a holistic approach to team, equipment, mission and environment. Techniques and methodologies have been adopted from various organizations, instructors and dive teams worldwide. Further, each member in having made the commitment to the New Millennium team has successfully demonstrated the conviction and aptitude mandatory in participating in NMDE diving operations and has incorporated this philosophy into thier personal diving techniques.
All NMDE projects utilize when possible, 1) an “optimal” team configuration of three divers, 2) standardized gas mixes (consistent with those as set forth by Global Underwater Explorers), 3) pre-determined decompression profiles requiring the use of only a depth gauge and timer to execute (read: no computers calling deco.) and 4) a compassionate and respectful incorporation of new members into the diving aspects of NMDE.
Diver Standards:
At all levels of NMDE dive operations, those divers participating in the underwater activities must demonstrate a proficiency in the following:
NMDE Fundamental and Technical Skills
Expedition Research Divers – Depths exceeding 200’
Certifications
– Trimix (GUE/UTD Tech 2, TDI Adv. Trimix, NAUI Trimix II or Equivalent Certification by another recognized Agency)
– Cave (GUE/UTD Cave 1, TDICave or Equivalent Certification by another recognized Agency)
– DPV
– Rescue, CPR, DAN O2 and First Aid Certifications
– Cave Diving/Hogarthian Technical Diving Fundamentals (GUE Fundamentals, UTD Essentials, or equivalent agency cert.)
Insurance – Dan Preferred
Must have logged 15 dives within the past 12 months at this level
Must have logged 75 total dives within the past 12 months – any level.
Expedition Deep Safety Divers – Depths up to 200’
Certifications
– Trimix (GUE/UTD Tech 1, TDI Trimix, NAUI Trimix I or Equivalent Certification by another recognized Agency)
– Cave (GUE/UTD Cave 1, TDICave or Equivalent Certification by another recognized Agency)
– DPV
– Rescue, CPR, DAN O2 and First Aid Certifications
– Cave Diving/Hogarthian Technical Diving Fundamentals (GUE Fundies, UTD Essentials, or equivalent agency cert.)
Insurance – Dan Preferred
Must have logged 15 dives within the past 12 months at this level
Must have logged 75 total dives within the past 12 months – any level.
Expedition Shallow Safety Divers – Depths to 130 feet & No-Stop Profiles
Certifications
– Advanced Nitrox (GUE/UTD/NAUI or Equivalent Certification by another recognized Agency)
– Rescue, CPR, DAN O2 and First Aid Certifications
– Cave Diving/Hogarthian Technical Diving Fundamentals (GUE Fundies, UTD Essentials, or equivalent agency cert.)
Insurance – Dan Preferred
Must have logged 10 dives within the past 12 months at this level
Must have logged 50 total dives within the past 12 months – any level.
Expedition Support Divers – Depths to 70 feet
Certifications
– Nitrox (GUE/UTD/NAUI or Equivalent Certification by another recognized Agency)
– Rescue, CPR, DAN O2 and First Aid Certifications
– Cave Diving/Hogarthian Technical Diving Fundamentals (GUE Fundies, UTD Essentials, or equivalent agency cert.)
Insurance – Dan Preferred
